SCHENECTADY COMMUNITY MINISTRIES
While we do so much in terms of Social Action at Messiah, there are so many needs in our community we cannot address alone! That is why we are proud members of Schenectady Community Ministries (SiCM), and led the charge towards transforming into from a Christian to an interfaith organization in 2020.
Celebrating 54 years, SiCM is a partnership of over 50 faith groups with a shared vision social service and social justice. With financial support and volunteers from its members and others, SiCM addresses public health needs such as food insecurity and nutrition education, racism and diversity concerns, and summer recreation through community collaborations and exceptional services and programs.
Messiah especially connects through SiCM through our support of the Phil Grigsby Memorial CROP Walk and the SiCM Summer Lunch program while exploring a wide variety of additional partnerships, particularly in relation to the Rotterdam Community Center. Our young people have regularly served as SiCM Summer Interns as well.
