ABOUT US

Never been to Messiah? Never been to church? No problem!
Our primary Sunday worship services, which begin at 10:15am, all revolve around the ancient Christian formula of gathering, word, meal and sending. It is a combination of participation from the congregation and worship leaders with much of the worship being sung. At the heart of worship is the Lord’s Supper, which we celebrate each week. Although we follow some of the earliest of Christian traditions, we also put a high priority on worship being fresh, engaging, and relevant to twenty-first century life. After worship we often gather over coffee, food, great conversation and many special events.
Year round, Sunday School begins at 9:00am for all ages. Children and parents gather in our sanctuary to talk with each other and Pastor Dustin about their week and have a brief meditative minute. The kiddos then break out into various age-appropriate classes led by an extremely dedicated and experienced group of teachers. Sunday School is a fun, casual, but powerful way to support our young people as they grow in faith, make friends, build confidence and learn about Jesus. High school and middle school youth separately gather for additional conversation with their adult leaders and we always have an adult faith formation class, generally taught by a retired Professor of Religion as well!
At Messiah, we live out our faith in a way that is integrally connected with our community. Throughout the year we plan fun family-oriented events including trips to watch our local sports teams in action, an afternoon of roller skating, an ice-cream social and more. We serve our neighbors in partnership with Schenectady Community Ministries, City Mission of Schenectady and other organizations.
From youth events to arts & culture programming to serving our neighbors in Rotterdam and the wider Schenectady area, there are all sorts of exciting ways we're building Spirit filled community here at Messiah. Please check out the links below to learn more about the guiding principles of our Christian faith. We'd love for you to join us! All are welcome!
