WORSHIP & MUSIC

Our 10:15am Mass uses a variety of Holy Communion liturgies. We are supported by an excellent choir who joins an accomplished local organist and pianist, Doug Chilton. If you are familiar with Lutheran worship, you will be familiar with the liturgies we use from hymnals including Evangelical Lutheran Worship and With One Voice.
If you are new to the Lutheran church or have never experienced worshiping in a liturgical denomination such as the Roman Catholic Church or Episcopal Church, you will find traditional worship to be a new experience! Liturgical worship revolves around an ancient formula of gathering, word, meal and sending. It is a combination of participation from the congregation and worship leaders with much of the worship being sung. At the heart of worship is the Lord’s Supper, which we celebrate each week.
Though Messiah uses the liturgies that many “traditional” Lutheran churches use, you most likely will find our worship style to feel a bit different. If you are looking for the traditions of the Church to be upheld but without a “stuffy” feel, come check out a traditional worship service.
Children and youth play a central role in our worship at Messiah. Every Sunday our young people contribute to the service as acolytes, crucifers, lectors, greeters, members of the choir and more. We always have a children's sermon (often a skit) and special age-appropriate activity bulletins are provided. While your children are always welcome in worship, nursery service is also provided for kids five years old and younger.
Our preaching at all services is honest and solidly grounded in the Word of God. We find that whenever God’s Word is proclaimed boldly, the Holy Spirit uses that opportunity to encourage or challenge us (and oftentimes both) as we strive to lead lives resembling our Lord Jesus.
