While we do so much in terms of Social Action at Messiah, there are so many needs in our community we cannot address alone! That is why we are proud members of the Sycamore Collaborative, and led the charge towards transforming into from a Christian to an interfaith organization in 2020.
Sycamore is a partnership of over 50 faith groups with a shared vision social service and social justice. With financial support and volunteers from its members and others, Sycamore addresses public health needs such as food insecurity and nutrition education, racism and diversity concerns, and summer recreation through community collaborations and exceptional services and programs.
Messiah especially connects through Sycamore through hosting the Phil Grigsby Memorial CROP Walk every year out of our Rotterdam Community Center.
We also participate in the Sycamore Summer Lunch program while exploring a wide variety of additional partnerships, particularly in relation to the Rotterdam Community Center. Our young people have regularly served as Sycamore Summer Interns as well.
