BREAD OF LIFE FOOD PANTRY

Inspired by a Daily Gazette article highlighting the high rate of students receiving free or reduced lunches in the Mohonasen School District (now at 45%), Messiah opened our Bread of Life Food Pantry almost five years ago on October 4th, 2015. The food pantry now operates twice a month by appointment, currently on the third Monday of the month during the day and the fourth Monday of the month in the evening. We currently serve roughly 130 meals a month and plan to operate on a weekly basis by early 2021. Initial plans to improve our facilities to provide additional skills building services like cooking classes or public speaking classes for our guests are also in the works.
If you would like to set up an appointment or wish to receive more information, please call 518.374.5104, leave your name and the best phone number to contact you, and we will forward your information to our food pantry coordinator as soon as we can.
The Bread of Life Food Pantry operates on a choice model where guests are invited to fill out a form regarding what food items they'd like to to take home. Our friendly volunteers will then fill the order while guests wait in our comfortable narthex. Games and books are available for guests who are waiting with children.
If you are having a food emergency and are in immediate need of food, please check out the Little Free Pantry at Bellevue Reformed Church located at 2000 Broadway, Schenectady, NY 12306.
The Bread of Life Food Pantry is generously supported by PriceChopper Supermarkets, Stewarts Shops, Concerned for the Hungry, ELCA World Hunger and many members of our congregation.
